Tonada is a group that was born in the city of Barranquilla in 2014 with the intention of safeguarding and preserving the musical heritage of the Colombian Caribbean, through a young sound, with the language and interpretation of sound roots of the African heritage. Tonada mixes the ancestral musicality of the bullerengue with the formality of the academy, creating voices that raise the bullerengue to new interpretative summits. This grouping has done
part of the most traditional bullerengue festivals in the country such as the Bullerengue Festival of Maria la Baja 2011 and the Festival of Puerto Escondido in its 2016 and 2017 versions. This group is characterized by having a staging in which the dancing aesthetic Bullerengue becomes a performative act of music and dance.
