Seffarine features Moroccan vocalist Lamiae Naki and oud player/flamenco guitarist Nat Hulskamp. Deeply rooted in Morocco's musical collision of Arabic, European and African cultures, Seffarine embraces and extends this spirit of fusion, now joining forces in the New World with master musicians from four countries to form one voice, charged with texture and color. Their original compositions fuse their backgrounds in Arabic and Spanish flamenco music with the diverse traditions of the group's members. Sweeping Persian ornamentation plays off gritty bass grooves and fiery flamenco footwork, with Lamiae's cascading Arab-Andalusi vocals and catchy hooks of Moroccan Chaabi at its center.
