Mat McHugh has been an author, composer and performer for 15 years. He spent seven years on the road , mostly with his band The beautiful Girl, which he founded and became the leader.
In 2000, McHugh preparing several versions of songs that would become the first EP by the beautiful Girl, named Morning Sun. He will then meet Bruce Braybrooke( a drummer).At this time, Bruce was still playing with the punk band frenzel Rhomb. He joined full time in 2006. In early 2007, paul Bromley, on of the most famous australian bass player, producer world and reggea, joined the team and bring with him a new sound. So with their help Mat McHugh develloped is music.
After a motorcycle accident, he is forced to stay home for a month, which pushed him to compose his first album solo, Separatista released in australia and in the United States under the name Mat McHugh and the blackbird. The album has confirmed his talent.
