I'm shortly introducing you my new compilation “IMPORT EXPORT A LA TURKA – Turkish Sounds from Germany” by the label Trikont.

My first Compilation BEYOND ISTANBUL: Underground grooves of Turkey was awarded by the the German Album Critics’ Prize as bestseller.

The record label TRIKONT and me have concipated a second unique Compilation which offers an overview of the the developments, contemporary moods, and sounds of the Immigrants from Turkey in Germany from the 90ies to today.
The CD also contains my track Neymâne as M.E.S.S. Berlin aka DJ Ipek İpekçioğlu.

Did you know that German rap was started by Turks? Or actually, by the children of Turkish immigrants, who were the first to write German rap lyrics and record them on CDs? Did you know that contemporary Turkish rock would not have been possible without help from Hannover?

I didn’t know this either until I became engaged after the “Beyond Istanbul” now with “Beyond immigration,” music made by Turks in Germany. I discovered new music and music that hadn’t been listened to in a long time, but I also learned about their origins—my own origins as a DJ in the 1990s, the immigrant origins in the lyrics of musicians featured on "Import Export a La Turka”, and the origins of trends in popular music from Germany and Turkey.

That’s why this compilation has become a personal collection for me, one that also tells my own immigrant history. It demonstrates the sometimes forgotten connections between personal circumstances and musical expression. And last but not least, it honors immigrants’
contributions in the current pop music of Germany and Turkey. But above all, it’s music that I like listening to, music that I like to dance to, or watch other people dance to…

The Cd contains a booklet of 28 pages in english, german and türkish. The forword was written by Dr. Martin Greve and the liner notes by Kenan Zöngör.
