Founded 2003, Svaeng has shown to all doubtful minds that this tiny instrument can be very expressive and has unlimited potential.
Svaeng is mostly playing original music composed by the band members. In their music, the Slavic melancholy meets the joyful rythmic groove, the tonal and dynamic range are very unique and surprisingly delightful.
The debut album released in 2004 has been an instant success and has already reached fame in many parts of the world. Svaeng has appeared on official womex showcase in 2007, toured and appeared on TV and radio in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Hungary, Japan and USA. In 2005 the Kaustinen Folk Music Festival awarded Svaeng the Band of the year title.
