I was born in London 1974 to Jamaican parents. I grew up in Wembley near the stadium. Early 80's had some racial tension, but none of this scarred me. I probably worked harder and was clear about who I was because of any difficulties I faced. I loved London in the 80's. the stadium brought concerts and sport to Wembley. My town was a buzz.

I married an Australian when I was 16, my daughter's father, and I spent my adult life in Australia. I studied at the VCA Victorian college of the arts when I decided to sing professionally. I sang in choirs as a child. But I started singing professionally in my twenties after the birth of my daughter. I always enjoyed singing but I didn't sing until she came about. I wanted to perform. My friend asked me after having my daughter what I want to do with my life. That was the answer... To sing. That was when I was happiest, we were just having coffee, with my daughter on my lap. That was my honest answer. I have pursued this dream ever since.

From the beginning it was soul. At first I didn't understand the lyrics or the crying tones that were in these strong voices, but by meeting artists like Marva I began to know the stories behind the songs. Sharon Jones was much the same. They are my singing mentor mothers! I fell in love with Sharon the second I heard her voice on the radio. I started performing her songs and I sent them to her when I finished them. Then I met Sharon in Melbourne. First I Facebook stalked her and Binky and told them I was going to meet them! Then I went to the show with my band members. I wriggled my way to the front of the crowd and Sharon pulled me up onto the stage. She told me to dance, handed me the mic eventually and that was it!!! Instant friends!!

I come to Europe to begin again. To understand this hemisphere more. I haven't been here for over 20 years and it has been calling... I want to call Europe home. Also my daughter lives in Europe now. I loved Australia but the distance between me and her needed to be less. I feel great now that I can sing here too. Europe needs more soul singers and I happen to be one! I am meant to be the soul diva of Europe.
