Tierra - Songs by Cuban Women

Cuban vocalist Estrella Acosta presents the works of Cuba's top female composers and poets who were pioneers in their time, and opened the way for other women artists to follow. By performing the music of these brilliant Cuban women, she highlights their unique artistry and tell a musical story of Cuba through the voice of these composers.

With her new album ’Tierra', nominated for a Latin GRAMMY® 2023, she pays tribute to the rich musical heritage of the Cuban countryside with songs by talented female composers and her own compositions. In the great arrangements by her musical colleagues, her songs as well as those by the other singer-songwriters featured in this album, have taken on a new life. The album is a mix of rhythms from Cuba, Venezuela, Uruguay and Latin America with a jazz influence - a Latino fusion.

The songs, ranging from traditional to contemporary, are arranged and performed with the collaboration the following musicians:
Marc Bischoff (piano), Efraim Trujillo (sax/flute), Samuel Ruiz (bass), Enrique Firpi (drums), Gerardo Rosales (percussion), Alberto Caicedo (backup vocals) & Estrella Acosta (vocals)

She has also performed at many international festivals including the North Sea Jazz Festival, Curaçao Jazz Festival, Chicago World Music Festival, and Sunfest in London, Canada . She has released six CDs and a single on her label eStar and recorded as a guest for different labels including a recording with the Metropole Orchestra for Universal Records. Her second production on eStar, Alma Guajira, was nominated for an Edison (Dutch Grammy). 'Tierra - Songs by Cuban Women' is nominated for a Latin GRAMMY® 2023
