Blissful Virtuous is the musical partnership of Roo Pigott and Mark Bradshaw who collaborate between continents to produce their music. Roo is based in Sheffield, UK, and Mark is based in Mbabane, Swaziland.

The music has grown from Mark's study of ethnomusicology and Roo's years of live and studio production.

Mark Bradshaw - Ethnomusicologist, musician, and teacher. With a lifetime of musical diversity and a head full of knowledge, Mark is the force behind blissful's mbira laced tunes.

Roo Pigott - Producer, musician, and new musical entrepreneur. With a studio full of technology and a head full of noise, Roo collides head on into blissful with soundscapes and intelligent beats.

We create bliss'ed out world grooves and intuitive beats, formed with care and chaos.

‘Mbira Post’ by blissful virtuous is a truly original work, blessed and influenced by the past. A massive journey of sounds, sessions and searching. With its roots in Zimbabwe, recordings and remixes have happened worldwide from Borneo to the UK, Tanzania to the US.

For every track on the album there must be twenty remixes and reworks, ….these sounds never seem to end….

We’ve been lucky enough to work with and listen to so many other artists, the eclectic influences show through on the tracks; from deep dark troubled earth moving sounds to the brightest organised speaker blowing chaos. It’s a stunning project…

Since passing a few copies of mbira post around at MIDEM, there’s been a constant request for the blissful virtuous sound. We’ve been asked to remix for labels and artists, co-write for new UK chart projects, asked to some seriously high profile gigs, and we’re getting more and more support from some of the industry’s most prolific writers and performers. We’ve been played on loads of radio stations around the world, including Radio 1 and 3 here in the UK, and always get loads of requests for the album after plays. Our fan base is growing without any effort… it’s an amazing response

a few reactions to mbira post;

I’ve been given your album and I'm really into it. I'm off to Senegal, Ghana, Kenya and Jo'berg next week for some field recordings etc. but I'd love to know your movements. Do you have a live show? If so, I hope you'll come and play with us in London. Thanks for the album, I'm really enjoying it. Cheers.

I really like the CD and find it to be one of the most refreshing fusion projects I've heard. Everything is just done in such a natural and original style that the entire CD is a pleasure to listen to. I have already played numerous tracks on our weekly internet radio broadcast, Traveler, as well as on our local public radio station KALW - listener response is always positive. I will keep spreading the good word about the project.

I was lucky enough to be at the Chill Stage on Sat when Nhema Swing came on. ‘random chance, fortuitous serendipity, or fate. I always go for option B on multiple choice, but regardless, having had the near nirvana-esque experience of a stormin’ Big Chill, the pleasure of putting ‘mbira post’ on the stereo once back, was the icing on the proverbial. So, in short and long, thanx for some wicked tunes’. Tim Wright

I listened to it I was blown away. It is some of the most beautiful music I have ever heard. Cheers guys. Andy

We love your music....kind regards. Martin Morales, Outcaste
