Folk Music Institute is a research-, information and services centre Finnish folk music and –dance. It’s premises are situated in the Folk Music Centre in Kaustinen. The vast archives and library are available to all information seekers. The material consists of audio and audiovisual material, photographs, literature and a newspaperclip collection of nearly 90 000 units. In addition, Folk Music Institute is a major publisher of folk music oriented material. The back-catalogue of over 100 cd-titles include both archival material and contemporary folk music. Book publications include e.g. sheet music, scientific literature and playing tutotrials in the field of folk music.
