company description
LTE was started in Cape Town, South Africa with main interests in Cape Music. The company is now run from Hamburg, Germany where music publishing (Songwrights Publishers) and distribution activities are concentrated. We still maintain an office in Cape Town. The firm also manages tours for some of their acts. Present priorities are THE DIZU PLAATJIES IBUYAMBO ENSEMBLE who showcased at WOMEX, THE CAPE JAZZ BAND and THE SCHALK JOUBERT THREE CONTINENTS SEXTET.
The main record label, Mountain Records, one of 6 labels run by the firm, has remained a world music label and is distributed in Europe via New Music Distribution and southern Africa by EMI.
Through Templit LTD we offer management for artists signed to LTE. We also take on involvement with unsigned artists. An example is the award winning Maskandi group, IMITHENTE from Zululand and the Berlin based duo, Natascha Roth and James Scholfield.
LTE has an historic involvement in music distribution of CDs having run a music distribution in Germany since 1996. For some time we have offered a service to indie labels with a World Music or Jazz repertoire base to have their music distributed through digital dowload.
