A Filetta is a Corsican vocal ensemble well known for its polyphonies. For more than 40 years, the ensemble has traveled across the globe, did a lot of encounters and built repertoires that widely circulate. If a cappella singing is the singers’ chosen field, they sometimes also collaborate with instrumentalists.
This album entitled I balconi, the balconies, is a nod to these appendages of our homes, first step and first glances beyond our closed and circumscribed worlds; balconies are a place from which we discover that we are not alone... Texts which simply speak of our common destiny and common humanity: love, death, resilience, the history of our furrows, the seas of our utopias, the voyages of our grandeur and the bitterness of our finitude…
A corpus of polyphonic songs in which voices are so many instruments serving the word; one guitar, a meticulous writing and yet a great simplicity, will contribute to giving the whole a song format.
