Right from the very first notes of My Brazilian Heart, the listener is bewitched by the gentle elegance and finesse of actress, Clara Bellar, “discovered” by Rohmer* and “robotized” by Spielberg**.

This album is the first of a trilogy which will include My French Heart and My American Heart. Clara Bellar has chosen a dream repertoire: Canto das três raças, immortalized by Clara Nunes; Joana Francesa, Samba e amor, by Chico Buarque; Sampa, by Caetano Veloso, and classic numbers by Gilberto Gil and Noel Rosa. She has crafted her own enlightened vision of João-Gilberto-style Bossa Nova and the percussion rhythms of the Mangueira parades. Bellar invited Milton Nascimento, João Bosco and the great Dori Caymmi to take part in the production and musical direction. The result is a CD filled with sensual renderings by a delightful interpreter, who is clearly possessed by the voices of Brazil.

Gifted with a velvet voice which would make many blush with envy, Clara Bellar knows how to communicate her feelings of wonder and love for Brazil, its African traditions and mythology, with warmth and sensuality.

This is a disk from the heart, a declaration of love to Brazil, with a French feminine touch that subtly blends love and glamour, music and poetry. It’s pure lace!

Released on the Alo Alo label, this disk is packaged in a handsome digipack with a booklet that includes the lyrics with footnotes in French and English. It is signed by beautiful Clara.
