Celebrate. This is the exact word to express the feeling, as well as translate it into all possible and imaginable images, starting from one of the clearest and most direct guidelines established by the restless heads of the creators of the Mangue Movement. And as said by Dr. Charles Zambohead, here revered as Chico Science: Fun Takes Seriously.
It has been 30 years since the creation of his Manifesto by the then journalist Fred Montenegro and everything that involves this group of friends from the cities of Recife, Olinda and Jaboatão dos Guararapes. It seems that it is still at the beginning, that is, in full development, after all it is a cultural Movement that changes, adapts by dialoguing with the various urban and suburban languages together with its agents.
With the aim of commemorating longevity and celebrating the existence of the attitude that dared to change the directions of Pernambucan, Northeastern and Brazilian cultures, the concept of MangueFonia was formed, a combination of several exponents of the Mangue scene, idealized and led by Afrociberdelia agents Jorge Du Peixe and Dengue (both original members of Nação Zumbi).
DENGUE on bass, TOCA OGAN, MARCOS MATIAS and DA LUA on the percussions (NAÇÃO ZUMBI), NEILTON (DEVOTOS) on guitar and VICENTE MACHADO (MOMBOJÓ) on drums are part of this band that receives to share the vocals: JORGE DU PEIXE (NAÇÃO ZUMBI), SIBA VELOSO (MESTRE AMBROSIO), FRED 04 (MUNDO LIVRE S/A), CANNIBAL (DEVOTOS), FÁBIO TRUMMER (EDDIE) AND LOUISE (daughter of Chico Science), in order to perform the classics that marked the history of their groups and step forward, introducing new songs from their latest work, and pointing in new directions.
