Prodyut Bala hails from Nelegarh in the district of Birbhum. His initiation into music was through his mother. He would sing as part of the Krishna yatra. Prodyut was trained in Baul music by Harekrishna Das Baul. He collected mohajoni songs from different places and has since been promoting Baul music across India.
