“Ethno Jazz Project”
Nina Nikolina’s “Ethno Jazz Project” is unique in its approach to interpretations of Bulgarian folklore, mixing traditional songs with ethno jazz, flamenco, vocal and instrumental improvisations.
On stage, alongside Nina Nikolina, perform musicians with outstanding mastery, rich background, and deep understanding within their fields. Their performances include ancient Bulgarian folklore songs, which portray various myths and legends which have been passed on from generation to generation for more than 200 years. Many of the songs are in odd time signatures, which is a particularly unique characteristic of music in this part of the world. In addition to the Bulgarian folklore, the arrangements blend elements and quotes from other Balkan cultures as well as various international music styles - flamenco, latino, ethno jazz, folk jazz and fusion, which all embody the definition of world music.
