When you talk about great potentials and bringing different vibes to the entertainment arena in Guyana, think Bones Man. Born Orlando Johashen, in Tempe; a village found on the West Coast of the ancient county of Berbice, Bones Man is known to be a one of a kind artist with a different ‘flava’ and style. He grew up under the guidance of his mother and is the eldest of seven .Unlike any other artist here in Guyana that is linked to the Soca genre, this young man has a lyrical vibe attached to his list of potentials and creatively uses it as a tool, especially in his songs.

He was never known as a performer but as a young freestyler who usually brings out lyrics ‘on the spot’ and can adapt quickly to any type of music being played. However, he had friends that were convinced that he had what it takes to make it as a performer in his country and worldwide.

His career in music started some five years ago when he was first introduced to the Kross Kolor Recording studio .He came as an accompaniment to do a reggae recording with the sister of the famous Soca rebel Bunji Garlin, who was a close friend and a student at the Guyana School of Agriculture where he attended. It was then that his unforeseen skills were noticed and the manager saw it fit to have an artist of such an artistic value to his camp. The following year, 2006, Bones Man got signed to the Kross Kolor Label and right away began exploring his talent. After finding out what he had in store, he started recording combining his lyrical skills with other genres of music and in that same year released his first Soca single “Chochore”, which was featured on one of the albums released from the studio. This song became the gateway to his spot in the entertainment industry in Guyana and it was without a doubt that great things were in store for him. The name ‘Bones Man’ is very much a description of what he really looks like but with attitude.

In 2007 he entered his first competition; the fourth annual Carib Soca Monarch competition in Guyana where he got a chance to truly show what he is about and this brought him great success. With his song entitled “Hands Up“, he came out in the third position also winning the prize for being the best new comer for the competition. He continued in the competition in 2008 and 2009, however, did not make it to the finals in 2008 but got back up and placed fourth in 2009.Surely it was seen that Bones Man had alot of talent hidden in him and he continued to show it. He was crowned the 2010 Soca king of Guyana with his peace “Is We Own” and this proved that he is truly a force to be reckoned with.

He is a family guy who is currently employed at the Guyana Forestry Commission and holds a Diploma from the Guyana School Of Agriculture (GSA).He already has a few singles that have been released, which are featured on the various editions of the annual album along with other tracks from Kross Kolor Records and has recorded a number of songs that are yet to be released. He is focusing on his first album entitled ‘De Soca Rangatang’ which will be produced by Kross Kolor Records and some of the songs will include his newest single “Never Stop De Party”. He is also apart of the Head Hunter’s camp at Kross Kolor Records and is a true warrior who believes that in everything you do, the sky is the limit.
