SVÄNG is known about its creativeness without borders and the expressive energy in Finnish style. The quartet plays harmonicas, and harmonicas only. This orchestra is a refreshing and uplifting new phenomenon in the field of world music. The use of harmonica has got a totally new direction with sound of Sväng. SVÄNG has its roots deep in the Finnish mentality. The Slavic melancholy meets the joyful rhytmic groove. This is music with a lot of positive energy. Musicians of the band are multi-instrumentalists and well-known composers and players in Finnish music scene. The music of Sväng is influenced by traditional musics of many cultures and from jazz and popular music. One of the members, Jouko Kyhälä is making his doctoral studies of harmonica for the Sibelius Academy music university.
