ARN64692 - QALANDAR EXPRESS - LOVE SONGS OF THE MYSTIC RIDERS

Badila brings together Indian and Arabo-Persian musical Sufi traditions, taking us to the heart of Eastern poetry and illustrating the close and harmonious relationship that exists between music and spirituality.
Emphasis is placed on the dialogue between two musical-philosophical systems: the Indian raga and the Arab-Persian maqam.
The Love Songs of the Mystic Riders is a celebration of festivity, joy and love through music and oriental dance.

The name indicates the search for a spiritual realm. The songs are taken from the works of various mystic poets of the East: Mira Bai, Mawlana Rumi, Hazrat Ghulam Farid and Nezami.

The title of the CD Qalandar Express of the album is derived from the name of the train in Pakistan that takes thousands of pilgrims from Penjab to the city of Sehwan Sharif in Sindh, to worship the Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (1177-1274).

A repertoire at the confluence of different cultures:
The members of Badila belong to different cultural groups and have in common a love of poetry as a vehicle for beauty, wisdom, beliefs, and tales of gods and saints. Badila presents a dialogue in which each member is aware of his distinctive cultural identity, open to their own secret worlds.
The Artists present an open dialogue, in which each, aware of his own cultural specificity, listens to the secret worlds of the others.
The repertoire includes pieces from an early cultural heritage, as well as more recent elements.
Mame Khan Manghaniyar (from Rajasthan, India) and the two Persian musicians are among the most worthy trustrees of their generation of an ancestral communal heritage, based on oral tradition.
This poetic and spiritual heritage is of a sacred nature and it is passed on from father to son, from master to pupil, from generation to generation, within the same family.
In this project aimed at uniting people and bringing hope, Badila sheds light on different cultural heritages, philosophies and beliefs that are generally little known in our world.
Music that moves from Eastern roots to freedom through the imagination.
