Ranarim plays Swedish folk music in the new
tradition. Songs and tunes found after careful
searching are blended with new music in the
group's own arrangements.

The saga of Ranarim begins on a winter's day in
1997 on the train to northernmost tip of Norway.
Two folk singers, one from Ångermanland, one
from Dalarna. A world champion nyckelharpa
player from southern Sweden and a guitar/mandola
player from Stockholm. All on their first tour
together. Since then the journeys have been many
and longer.

Their first CD "Till the Light of Day" (Till ljusan dag),
released in 2000, not only in Sweden but also in the
United States and Japan, was followed by intensive
touring around the world. Just in time for ”För
världen älskar vad som är brokot” they are joined
by a double-bass player and a drummer.

Join Ranarim in an enchanted world of drama,
excitement, love and magic. Music that has
wandered through the ages from singer to singer,
from musician to musician. Music that thrives in our
time. Music that connects to the past but looks
ahead to the future. With dynamic energy and a
contagious musical joy, Ranarim weaves its own
colourful tapestry.

In Swedish, rana means a beautiful woven tapestry
or rug.
Rim is the archaic word for dew.
