Marco Calliari may be a full Quebecois, but he has never renounced his Italian origins. Although since childhood, he had heard the melodies of the opera, within his famiglia, in 1989, at just 14 years old, he chose a very different sound: wild screaming heavy metal It is at that time that he co-founded, with his friends, one of the most interesting metal groups in Quebec, "Anonymus". Nevertheless, in 2006, after more than 15 years and five solid albums, Marco ended this important musical adventure to throw himself fully into his own thriving solo career, launched in 2003.
His first composition a festive album, Che La Vita, borders what can be called World Music, Jazz, poetic music, with all the lyrics and music signed by Marco, and all in Italian. Che La Vita sold for over 30 000 copies in a primarily French speaking audience.
After this ground breaking success Marco lounge his second solo album Mia Dolce Vita in which he remakes his own versions of traditional Italian songs such as O Sole Mio, Bella Ciao and L'Americano. This album came out in November 2006 and has, to this day, sold over 45 000 copies in Quebec. In 2007 he teams with a new booking agency, Spectra Scene.
The industry has also recognized this artist talent with awarding him the Prix Etoiles Galaxie (CBC) during the Emerging Music Festival in Rouyn-Noranda (2004), and then in 2005, the RIDEAU event (The Independent Network of United Artistic Events Promoters). In 2005 and 2007, Marco Calliari was among the nominees at the Gala de l'ADISQ in the "Album of the year World music" category.
In 2008, Marco is hosting the opening night of the Francofolies of Montreal with many guests broadcasted live on TV5 World. He also was invited to perform in a very special show side by side with Quebec greatest artists in front of the dignitary and an audience of nearly a million for the 400th anniversary of Quebec City celebrations
Marco Calliari has released a new compilation of his first two records destined to the European public. He will tour in France and Switzerland. He also performed in big stadium in Florence and Milan in Italy with Bandabardo, very famous in Italy for their explosive concert.
Recently, Marco's interpretation of the classic L'Americano has been selected for a Putumayo compilation called Italia, which was released in may 2009 in New York. Finally, Marco Calliari will be working on new original material for his third album set to come out in 2010.
