SOUNDS FROM THE GHETTO IN A BIG CELEBRATION
Get ready for a very special setup.
We're moving the street parties, known as 'Balani Shows', to Festival Stage. Balani Shows started as street parties in the late 90s the Malian capital, Bamako. DJs played pre-recorded music on huge sound systems. It later evolved into remixes and lately it has become a genre of its own.
But we want to go back to where it all started. And for this special occasion a special setup of Malian performers is ready to take on the electro nights of Bamako.
The Balani Shows are influenced both by traditional Mali songs and their famous ‘balafons’ (a type of xylophone) as Ivorian Coupé-Décalé, US hip-hop and European dance music.
The geopolitical tensions that Mali has undergone over the past years have obviously had a strong impact on the nocturnal joyful hustle and bustle. Indeed, times are hard for all of these young artists. All the more reason to check out this unique setup to spread the essence of their endangered culture.
The Malian artists include: Cheikne Sissoko et Les Cinq Tamans, rappers from the Supreme Talent Show (trendiest duo in the Balani scene), Warawo and more.

Inspiré de la ghetto music et des block parties frénétiques au Mali, le Balani Show Bizness est la rencontre inédite initiée par les Eurocks entre les sons traditionnels et la modernité électronique des grands instrumentistes maliens et des jeunes pousses de l'electro rap de Bamako. Une sono mondiale et torride à souhait.
