Saxophone & Piano Latin Jazz in Concert - Latin Grammy Winner –

Cuban saxophonist, composer and arranger Ariel Bringuez sat in with Orlando Valle's outstanding bands Maraca and Otra Visión while still a student, and went on to play with major Latin jazz stars such as Irakere, David Murray, Perico Sambeat, Paquito D'Ribera and Miguel Zenón. He can also be heard on Grammy-nominated albums by Alejandro Sanz and Chucho Valdez. Bringuez has been no less successful with his own projects. His 2007 debut album "Raíces en colores" won the Opera Prima, and two more acclaimed albums have followed since he moved to Madrid in 2009. A highlight of his career so far is now his collaboration with compatriot Iván "Melón" Lewis. The 49-year-old is one of the best and most influential Cuban pianists, alongside names such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Roberto Fonseca and Ramon Valle. The long list of his performances includes the major jazz festivals such as Montreux, SFJazz in San Francisco or the North Sea Jazz Festival as well as legendary jazz clubs such as the "Blue Note" in New York. He won the Latin Grammy in 2021 for the most recent of his five albums, "Voyager." Together, Bringuez and Lewis are now creating a musical portrait of their homeland with their program "Alma en Cuba" at the Bayerischer Hof, with their own pieces and interpretations of Cuban songs from all eras. A journey into the past, the present and the future of Cuban music.
