Newcomers to Lau-Land start here: 2004, three guys sit in an Edinburgh kitchen playing a few tunes on fiddle, guitar and accordion. Fast-forward to 2013 to see them hailed as the most musically adventurous trio in British folk, picking up the BBC Folk Award for Best Band for an unprecedented fourth time, headlining major festivals, touring the world and generally pushing the boundaries of the folk-trio concept with bold sonic experiments as well as taking on some intriguing collaborations with the likes of ambient-electro pioneer Adem, singer-songwriter Karine Polwart, Cream hero Jack Bruce and composer Brian Irvine and the Northern Sinfonia. Lau are Orcadian singer-songwriter Kris Drever, master Scottish fiddler Aidan O'Rourke and English accordion and electronics maverick Martin Green, all individually renowned musicians who together create the synergy that's fuelled their amazing success.
