About:
RETIMBRAR is a vigorous movement performed by an 8-piece collective, based in Porto.
Inspired by the country's musical traditions, TugaBeat is the name they give to their sound - Portuguese beats and songs, made new. Deeply rooted in the diversity of national folklore, popular poetry and orality, chanting and percussive elements.
They depart from the rhythm to give voice and string to the narrative of a transformed everyday life with the identity of someone who gravitates between rurality and the traveled pace of other geographies.
They released “Voa Pé” (2016) and “Levantar do Chão” (2022), celebrating a path of collaborations, lived between workshops and projects with musical communities such as folkloric “Ranchos” and “Zés-Pereiras”. With “Retimbrar pelos Cotovelos”, a podcast that tells part of the history of the album, and with “Retimbrar - De Trás p’ra Frente”, the documentary (to be released in 2024) - the band makes their journey known live and behind the scenes.
