In his performances poetry, Jewish texts from the ancient liturgy and the Bible are blended with musical influences from Persia, Turkey and Central Asia, alongside compositions and melodies from classical music of the Middle East.
Nissim Lugasi is a musician, singer and Persian tar player. An expert in classical Persian and Ottoman Turkish singing which he has been researching and breathing for the past 25 years, Nissim is currently considered to be one of the leading voices in this field in Israel. For the last 7 years, Nissim has served as musical director of Maqamat School of Eastern Music located in Safed, Israel. He performs in Israel and abroad, teaching and conducting artist workshops. He has collaborated with major world artists such as Sahba Motallebi, Mark Eliyahu, Riff Cohen and Andres Mustonen/Hortus Musicus.
