Toronto based musical unit lal has been together
for the past 4 years,
building and developing their unique sound that
blends everything they love
about music, for they are music lovers period, from
hip hop & electronc
music to international folk music to jazz. This
unique sound has also given
them the honour of opening for the likes of Terry
Callier (Jazz Café, UK),
Digable Planets (Phoenix concert Theatre Toronto),
Kid Koala (Pepper Jacks,
Hamilton), Nelly Furtodo (Massey Hall, Canada) &
State of Bengal (Reverb,
Canada), to name a few. This courageous and
unapologetic musical unit
apporach their music from the point of the
observer, thus tackling issues
such as the environment, war, peace and
forgiveness. Rosina's Sweet vocals
added to Murr's haunting beats and arrangements
with the addition of live
musicians, Ian de Souza (bass) and Rakesh Tewari
(percussion), make this
band one to look out for in 2007/8.

'LAL is an intersection between idea, place, and
people, where we stand for
a moment and discuss the kind of world we will
create. The conversation
eventually gives ways to dance, which, in turn, gives
way to conversation,
which again, makes room for dance. We will win.
There’s no doubt.'
