I wrote the compositions for No East No West carefully choosing and blending together scales, chords and rhythms from different musical traditions in an attempt to express a sense of unity and love for all.
Dialogues amongst Brazilian melodies, dance motifs from Bengal, European folk styles, jazz improvisation, Chinese and Southeast Asian ambience, Latin American moods and chamber music all become colours from the same musical palette with the scope of expressing our common feelings and emotions.
No East No West is our very colourful unchangeable condition; under this light, this music of love and unity becomes automatically a clear stand against those who are trying to divide what is indivisible.
