Alone we go fast, together we go further! That's the word from Aywa, bringing a message of peace, hope and protest, dynamically delivered in the compulsive trance grooves of their self-defined raï gnawa electro pop rock. In the driving seat is the charismatic figure of vocalist and ngoni player, Adil Smaali, indefatigable international messenger of Maghrebi music already known by many for collaborations with a broad range of artists such as The Spy From Cairo, Al3ph, Tetouze, as well as his participation in the ensemble Qalam, a remarkable meeting of Languedoc, Celtic, European and Berber music. Qalam colleagues, flautist Damien Fadat and bassist Guilhem Chapeau Centurion, now join Adil Smaali in Aywa, where the accent is firmly on carrying their audiences onto the trance-floor with a rigorous rehash of classic raï rock grooves.
