Some of the many lessons one can learn from the case of the Atelier des Artistes en Exil are:

- Act now and don’t wait for the perfect environment to act!
- Solidarity can create powerful dynamics and is even more important in times of crisis.

This grassroots initiative right in the heart of Paris, supports over 200 artists that have been exiled from homelands as distant as Syria, Venezuela, DR Congo or Kazakhstan. They cover all artistic disciplines, exploring the lived realities of exile from many perspectives.

The shape that this support takes is wide-ranging and invaluable: providing advice on funding applications or CVs; facilitating training courses or meetings with industry professionals; or just as “simple” as giving a space to work in peace.

Although the organisation exists since 2017, the blossoms of its work are many and beautiful, like its annual festival, Visions d’Exil.
