Master percussionist Guilherme Kastrup has contributed his formidable skills to the works of some of Brazil's most important musicians such as Tom Zé, Chico Cesar, Zizi Possi, Gal Costa, Zeca Baleiro and very many others. He's also in demand as a record producer, most notably recently as the musical director of two albums by the legendary singer Elza Soares, A Mulher do Fim do Mundo (2015) and Deus é Mulher (2018), bringing her together with a cutting-edge team of contemporary artists. His first album under his own name, Kastrupismo (2015), builds collages of pulsing rhythms and surreal style mixing. His latest, Ponto de Mutação, inspired by the writing of Fritjof Capra, is an urgent sonic confrontation with systemic collapse and a search for new paradigms under the aegis of feminine values, to lead us from chaos.
