Session 10

Chaired by Dominic Seldis (UK/The Netherlands), first solo double bass, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; ambassador, primephonic

with Steve Long (UK), managing director, Signum Records

John Kieser (Canada/US), executive vice president & provost, New World Symphony

Veronica Neo (Singapore/The Netherlands), chief operating officer, Primephonic

The goal of this session is to together identify the key levers along which new technology can democratise classical music, making it more accessible for groups that are currently underrepresented in audiences. In this interactive panel, representatives of key stakeholders in the digital transformation of classical music will present their respective views on this challenge: orchestras (John Kieser, NWS), record labels (Steve Long, Signum) and streaming services (Veronica Neo, primephonic). Attendants can participate by voting on selected statements presented by the chair, Dominic Seldis, and classical fans worldwide can participate through a live stream. A visual storyteller will draft an infographic on the outcomes of the panel discussion, creating a lasting case for change for all participants.
