Session 17

Chaired by Jovanka v. Wilsdorf (Germany), composer & board member, Music Women* Germany

with Elena Kountidou (Greece/Germany), head of communications & digital mediation, Konzerthaus Berlin;
Matthias Röder (Germany/Austria), managing director, Karajan Institute

It is an exciting time. New (music) technologies are mushrooming and VR (virtual reality), AR (augmented reality) and AI (artificial intelligence) have become indispensable in the music industry. But are women and men equally involved in this development? What new music technologies and applications are there from which (classical) female musicians could concretely benefit? And how can we make sure that even more (classical) female musicians are interested in these technologies? In this discussion, the questions surrounding this topic will be explored by panel participants Elena Kountidou of Konzerthaus Berlin, Matthias Röder of Karajan Institut Salzburg and Jovanka v. Wilsdorf of Music Women*Germany, who will also moderate the conversation. The discussion will be followed by a Q&A with the audience.
