Directed by Zuzanna Solakiewicz
Duration 71' | Polish with English subtitles

A beautifully illustrated story about a contemporary village and its unconventional dwellers who are of different ages, but have one thing in common – their strong attachment to folk culture. The Soil is a picturesque documentary, attuned to the rhythm of nature and regularly changing landscapes. In this film, music is as important as images, since it accompanies the protagonists during key events in their lives and helps them to come to terms with their emotions.

Zuzanna Solakiewicz is a writer and director. Her feature length creative documentary 15 Corners of the World won Best Film at Locarno Film Festival 2014, Critics’ Week Award, Best Documentary Award at Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival, and many others.

Protagonist Ewa Grochowska will be at the screening and available for a Q&A.
