“It’s up to the wise and the wild to solve the problems of the world.” Hagar Graiser decided it was time facilitate a blueprint for the ideal South African music industry, which she considers to be “sub-optimally wired and therefore cannot create win-win situations for artist, industry and audiences”. To that end Hagar used Systems thinking to make an online tool for music industry transformation based on Biomatrix Systems Theory, which allows multiple stakeholders to participate in systemic problem solving in the live and recorded value chains.

Hagar has used this in workshops, conferences, with students and at her own festival, Cape Town World Music Festival, to capture the brain-power in the room towards re-designing an ideal South African music industry. In this session Hagar will share a little about the theory, some core concepts and demonstrate the tool as well as show some of the best strategies.
