CHAQLALÁ
Chaqlalá was formed in Barcelona in the spring of 2008, after the meeting between Hakim Zamoum, Massinissa Aït Ahmed and Mokrane Khider (Algerians from Kabil origins) and Pau Ors (Catalan guitarist). His proposals are a fusion of folk Kabil tunes with Western rock, and lyrics explaining both the reality of their country of origin and the immigration experiences, sung in Arabic and Tamazight.

In 2009, after visiting several Spanish festivals they where selected by Channel 93, Paris for an artist residency in which they recorded their first album called Tidi, which is currently available through his web: www.chaqlala.com. The culmination of this week was a concert in the auditorium of the same channel 93.

The result of this fusion is a show full of energy and strength. His concerts remember the best times of the legendary Orchestre Nationale de Barbes or Gnawa Diffusion. Chaqlala despite his youth as a group have already an enviable staging, and are one of the sure promises of Arab music scene made in Europe. They have been selected to perform at the Festival of Alexandria (Egypt) next May 2011 and have already confirmed more dates for summer 2011 in the Spanish world music festivals.
