Birds are an essential part of all folklore, including Slavic folklore: Girls are often compared to
ducks, swans or peacocks. Young men, on the other hand, are drakes or falcons. At the same
time, birds are foundin the songs as harbingers of certain events: The cuckoo, for example, is a
symbol of sadness and loneliness. A swallow is a harbinger of something important and good.
This is why birds are more common in Russian folk tradition than other animals. "Birds are a symbol of hope, change and belief in a better life. As well as a forced migration and the symbol of death".
