Dark, atmospheric, drum, bass, and guitar grooves, melodic, angelic harp, with beautiful yet haunting melodies, sung exquisitely in Welsh. The mix of traditional rock, and folk instruments create a very special and distinctive sound that stays long in the listener's memory.

Horizons Stage
9Bach's eponymous debut album of 2009 heralded a bold new direction for Welsh folk songs, with the exquisite, silken tones of Lisa Jen's voice imparting a new emotional life to some venerable traditional ballads, against a subtly unfolding sonic landscape, both brazenly edgy and smoothly opulent, starting from tinkling glockenspiel or droning harmonium and layered over with slabs of electric guitar, harp filigrees and the throb of drums and bass. In 2011, after a successful festival season, band-leaders Lisa Jen and Martin Hoyland travelled to Australia to work on a project with the Indigenous Australian performance group, The Black Arm Band Company, exploring themes of identity, culture and the preservation of language, which culminated in a joint performance at the 2012 Cultural Olympiad in London. 9Bach's second album TINCIAN will be released in the UK in May 2014
