Don’t panic, don’t retune the dial or check your connection this is a new phenomena. Elzef are unclassifiable; think of brass played with the punk energy of the Pogues, the quirky electronica of Matt Herbert and the burlesque of Tom Waits and you’re nearly there.
Since 2000 Elzef have been picking up the diverse and multi-cultured traditions of their native France and messing with them. Brass band, north African chanson and musette have all been thrown in the musical moulinex with quasi-electronic effects and fright, instrumental sound effects, sketches, what they call " bidouillages" .. Contemporary styles such as rap haven’t escaped either creating a sound that is contemporary and timeless.
