Sana Bob, The Crier
His distinctive music is a colourful fusion of reggae with strong notes of sahelian blues, modern beats and traditional wed bidé , bissa or yarma, ancestral dance and music from the Mossi territory (major ethnic group in Burkina Faso).
He is often referred to as the The Crier, trying to awaken a certain consciousness through his songs. Both in French and in Mooré he calls out to those in power, reminding them of how ephemeral their function might be, and asking them to accomplish their tasks with dignity.
Not being able to read is major handicap for any person. Having only recently learnt by taking part in a literacy program in Abidjan, the artist himself is considered is an emblematic fore-figure and a reminder of this ongoing problem. He heartedly strives for a better social development and with the association Beog Yiinga, has put together a program called Actions Scolarité.
