The ZAV Project was born in 2016 on the initiative of the bassist, singer and composer Julio Zavala, fruit of his constant exploration with Afro Peruvian rhytms and contemporary musical forms.
Winner of two national Composition Awards, another one awarded by the Development Program of Ibero- American Music (IBERMUSICAS) in 2016, in addition to the National Contest of Record Production Projects awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Peru in 2018, the project brings together some of the most outstanding musicians of the Peruvian local scene, and has had successful appearances in two editions of the International Jazz Festival in Lima, at the International Book Fare of Lima, The 2019 Pan American Games, among other prominent places.
The band has released this 2020 their album "El Negrotismo Ilustrado", with which they intend to make an appearance in the international market. The material is available on Spotify, Apple Music and other digital platforms.
