Gaïsha is the fabulous collaboration between the Belgian-Moroccan singer Aïcha Haskal and
some exquisite musicians from the Belgian music scene, bringing you oriental & psychedelic
grooves with a Brussels twist. The band switches seamlessly between Arabic chants, parlando
and even rap. Their diverse background (Absynthe Minded, Sylvie Kreusch, Va Fan Fahre,
Echoes of Zoo, De Beren Gieren) results in a brilliant melting pot of styles.

Their first single ‘Ghalat’ was written by the Egyptian poet Abdelhamid Farag, who called
himself a ‘poète de l’éloignement’. His lyrics are permeated with deep melancholy and
romance. The single is a tribute to Abdelhamid who passed away in 2020. The song got some
promising reviews and is still played on national Radio 1.

In November 2022 Gaïsha launched ‘Ana Aïcha’, a groovy track with a powerful message:
gender equality. With this song singer Aïcha wants to pay tribute to her name, which literally
means ‘liberty’. The song reflects her rebellious voice that revolts against oppression of
women and fights for revolution. The melody translates this protest by creating an atmosphere
that runs the gamut from intimate nostalgia to stirring rhythms.
