The Colours of Ostrava Festival is the Best Music Event of the Year, according to the most prestigious Czech music award – the Andel / Angel (the Czech equivalent of the Grammy)
The 4th and 5th annual Colours of Ostrava Festival received an Andel / Angel award in the category of the Best Music Event of the Year for 2005 and now for 2006 too. The award was decided by members of the Czech Music Academy, which is made up of several hundred music publicists, promoters, producers and musicians. In the past year, the Festival has enjoyed huge interest from the media – more than 400 articles, interviews, references or reports have been published.

- the only music festival situated in the centre of the town – in the well-known entertainment district of the castle area and the Cerna Louka fairgrounds. Ostrava is the third largest city in the Czech Republic (the region of Ostrava has more than one million and two hundred thousand inhabitants)
Ostrava has international airport, Mosnov.

- an innovative and multi-genre festival, aimed not only at the younger generation. Fans of all music styles can experience world and dance music, ethnic music, and a host of well-known names from the Czech music scene, including alternative groups and artists. The diversity of styles is well-reflected and expressed through the festival’s name - Colours of Ostrava.
