De Oosterpoort

De Oosterpoort is a concert-venue promoting a wide variety of concerts, both classical and contemporary. In worldmusic we recently promoted Youssou N'Dour (africa), Dulce Pontes (fado), Marisa (fado), Gustavo Panne (tango), Sextetto Canyengue (tango), Izaline Calister (jazz/caraïbe), Vieja Trova Santiaguera (son/cuba), Vocal Sampling (a-capella/cuba), Cesaria Evora (Cabo Verde), Savina Yannatou (Greece), Urmila Sathyanarayanan (Baratha Natyam Dance/India), Korean Drums (Korean Percussion), Arif Sag (Turkey), Cran (Irish folk) to name just a few. The total number of concerts per year is between 40 and 50 in all worldmusicgenre's. Other genre's as jazz, blues, pop, rock, classical (chamber-, barok-, comtemporary-, etc., etc.), dance, improvised are also featured in the programme, that starts end of september until july. Apart from onenighters we do festivals, amoung them the Latin Dance Night (second saturday in november), that, features, as word has it: all kinds of latin dancemusic: salsa, merengue, son, bachata, kaseko, etc..
