"Monocromático" - Jairo Pereira

Monocromático was conceived almost all in this pandemic period, between 2020 and 2021. Times of isolation, losses, financial difficulties, endings, indignation, sadness and loneliness. It reflects the search for relief in the same way that it puts out what doesn't fit.
Jairo Pereira talks about hope, love, spirituality, ancestry and his recurring theme, affection from the perspective of a black man in a society that has had racism in its structure for 500 years. Unlike Jairo's last albums, in this one he dives into rap, his main style.
“Monocromático” was born in search of the colors and sounds of liberation, in the opposite direction of a traditionalism that grows claiming an alleged “neutrality” in the face of the socio-racial inequality in our country.
Bringing to light black monochrome, the many shades of our blackness, means questioning white, monochromatic and hegemonic culture, which is used to excluding black cultural identity from its worldview, demonizing, oppressing and repudiating it. In this work, Jairo follows his search for the recognition of Afro-diasporic cultures and subjectivities, with a very specific focus on Afro-Brazilian reality.
