KOSKILLEO Flamenco Fusion Band will come back to Womex in Seville this year(Stand H6) presenting its record "LA ISLA" to be edited soon. KOSKILLEO is a Flamenco Fusion band that uses the language of Flamenco (melodies, harmony, compás, etc.) in a very personal way. The essence of KOSKILLEO is in the daring marriage of Latin / Funk with Flamenco and its instruments (like the Spanish guitar, cajon, and the palmas), with the Latin and Mediterranean percussion, drums, bass, piano, keyboards and both alto and soprano saxophones. Flamenco dance is also present in KOSKILLEO's show complementing the music and adding visual beauty and vital energy to KOSKILLEO which varied repertoire leads way to its original fusion.





WHOS’ WHO IN KOSKILLEO…



Joaquín Murillo is the composer/producer (words and music), musical leader of KOSKILLEO and the saxophonist (alto and soprano) of the band. His jazzistic background from Barcelona’s “Taller de Musics“, is fusioned in KOSKILLEO with the influence of his Spanish southern roots. In KOSKILLEO he has developed a new musical language marrying different styles such as FLAMENCO, FUNK and LATIN JAZZ obtaining a tremendously captivating and energetic result on stage.



Helena Rizo: Flamenco dancer, was taught Flamenco dance by Carmen Amaya’s grand daughter “la Singla” started her career in Antonio Gades’ Company dancing in Carlos Saura’s film “El amor brujo” and has collaborated with Antonio Canales in the film “Vengo” of the French Movie Director Toni Gatlif. Helena is an astonishing Flamenco dancer very well known in Japan where she has worked more than ten years.



Alba Guerrero: Flamenco singer belongs to the new Flamenco singers' generation who has studied in Seville Cristina Heeren Flamenco Foundation with Naranjito de Triana. She has performed in the "Grec" Festival and the "Festival de Ciutat Vella" of Barcelona, in "Los Tarantos" in many occasions. Internationally she has performed in many European countries (France, Italy and Holland, Morocco)



Olivier García "El cangrejo": Flamenco singer coming from a family of long Flamenco tradition is an experienced Flamenco singer who has performed in Internationally (France, GB, Africa Austral, Spain) both as a Flamenco Fusion singer as well as a traditional Flamenco Jondo singer.



Paco Garfia Flamenco Guitarist: Paco is Koskilleo’s flamenco guitarist and is one of Cañizares's disciple. He has played in "Duo and Cuarteto Cañizares" with Cañizares himself for past three years.



Emilio "dos manos" Ruiz: Pianist and key board’s player. Emilio "Two Hands", as he is called among professionals, is a tremendous pianist who has worked for one of the most cherished Rumba singer “Gato Pérez” in Spain, has collaborated many years with the Orquesta Plateria and has shared stage with Celia Cruz and Tito Puente.



Hernán Flores: Electric Bass Player is an experienced musicians who has recorded a wide range of LPs of different musical styles for prestigious artists such as Joan Vinyals (Vila Blauet), Cece Giannotti (Noctámbulo), Esteban Rios (Cuando duerma el Sol), Néstor Basurto (La vieja ausencia), Coqui Sosa (Clásicos sueños) ...



Alex Ventura: Drums and Percussion player formed in Barcelona’s “Taller de Musics“ and in Cuba learning Latin percussion he is a remarkable and versatile musician who combines Latin Jazz drums player strong and subtle abilities together with Flamenco Rhythms knowledge. Alex has collaborated with Paquito d’Rivera, Patato Valdés in concert and in records (2 LPs) and has been Lucrecia’s drum player for ten year. He has also has played with the Big Latin Band of Ramón Escaler (recorded 3 LPs) ...



David Domínguez: Cajón Flamenco and Latin Percussion is a promising young pioneer in the modern flamenco percussion, cajón, and compás.
