Marvara is the international party band of Belgian bagpipe player Marieke Van Ransbeeck. They perform highly energetic folk music composed by Marieke. The music reflects her experiences and memories from a breath-taking musical journey in the Nordic countries. Marieke is accompanied by 4 musicians: percussionist Mårten Hillbom (SE), bass player Frederik Mensink (DK), cittern player Villads Hoffmann (DK) and diatonic accordion player Hilke Bauweraerts (BE).
Marvara presents their music through an interactive show that will tease all your senses. Get ready to experience some powerful melodies, badass harmonies, sexy slow tunes, devilish polskas, karaoke vibes and even some pop music influences. 'High On Life', the debut album of Marvara was released in November 2021. In the summer of 2022 Marvara performed at festivals in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Belgium. Highlights of the summer: Festival Dranouter (Belgium) and Kaustinen Folk Music Festival (Finland).
