Fataka a medical doctor from Madagascar in love with the American blues and soul, Rabotoson Mampandry Modeste nom d'art Fataka, a musician with a life story worthy of a novel, shows on his first album named Tomboarivo a puzzling mixture of his rural roots and the urbane worldliness of his musical choices. With hypnotic, dark sound emanating from his acoustic guitar, his sound, despite its clear East-African feel, is at times almost reminiscent of some of the classic Mississippi Delta blues players.
