Uchpa, is a Peruvian band of blues rock fusion in Quechua with more than 25 years of career in the musical scene. The vocalist Fredy Ortiz, a retired police officer, fought against the terrorism in the 80's. From these experiences, the name of the band is born, Uchpa, which means in Quechua, ashes.
Uchpa not only fuses blues rock with huayno but also jarawis, huaylias, pumpines and more Andean musical expressions.
The band, in addition to offering its art, is also seeking to create awareness about risk situation of the Quechua, the ancient language of the Inkas.
