Rob Weisberg is the host of Transpacific Sound Paradise, the “peerless world music show” (Time Out New York) heard Saturday evenings on non-commercial radio station WFMU 91.1fm in Jersey City, NJ, 90.1fm in New York’s Hudson Valley and worldwide via http://www.wfmu.org/tsp.
The show features recorded and live music, interviews, and remote broadcasts from Barbes, a performance venue in Brooklyn. Rob’s obsessively- maintained online world music calendar (http://www.wfmu.org/world) has become an essential resource for NYC metro area world music fans.
Rob has also produced pieces about music for nationally syndicated radio programs in the US and Canada including Global Village, Pacific Time, The Next Big Thing and Studio 360, and he works as an audio engineer and producer for public radio station WNYC in New York and other public radio and online outlets.
He has written on world music topics for various publications, most recently Global Rhythm magazine in the US and fRoots in the UK, and he’s been profiled by the Greek national music magazine Difono. And once in a blue moon you might even catch him spinning records in public.
