Luís Peixoto is one of the most acclaimed interpreters of traditional string instruments, such as the cavaquinho or the mandolin, in Portugal. After integrating and accompanying numerous groups and artists such as Dazkarieh, Sebastião Antunes, Júlio Pereira or Ana Bacalhau, in 2017 he released the solo album “Assimétrico”, a work with which he had the greatest recognition.
Always looking for new musical paths, and continuing in his own name, GEODESIA is the new album released in 2021, with an acoustic sound and mainly focused on the mandolin.
Between recreations of traditional themes and original compositions, GEODESIA is a sound journey, which confirms Luís Peixoto as one of the most creative and virtuous multi-instrumentalists in Portugal.
In addition to the repertoire, we also make this sound journey through the different nationalities of the musicians that make up this work, namely: Ciscu Cardona on guitar (Catalonia), Rubén Bada on violin (Asturias), Celina da Piedade on accordion (Portugal), Ricardo Mouriño on tin whistle (Galicia), Pablo Vergara on bodhrán (Galicia), Esko Järvelä on violin (Finland), Pedro Fariñas on Galician bagpipe (Galicia), Ricard Ros on flutes (Catalonia), José Peixoto on electric guitar (Portugal), Catarina Moura on voice (Portugal), José Robles on octavilla and Spanish lute (Murcia), Germán López on timple (Canary Islands) and Hernani Almeida on nylon guitar (Cape Verde).
In the words of Carlos Norton: «But “Geodesia” doesn’t end in this trio or within one geography, quite the opposite. It radiates Portuguese sounds throughout Iberia and beyond. There are guest musicians from all over the Peninsula, the Canary Islands, Cape Verde and Finland, who enhance and push the boundaries of this “Geodesia”.
